Senior AutoCAD Designer – Land Development

Due to continued growth within our engineering department, Van Harten has an immediate Full-Time opportunity for a Senior AutoCAD Designer at our Guelph office. This detail-oriented person would be a highly motivated leader who has strong organizational and time management skills, and possess the ability to generate and design various engineering drawings. The successful candidate will possess the ability to utilize software programs such as AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D, while mentoring and overseeing other drafters.
Job Responsibilities:

Prepare civil engineering drawings utilizing AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D

Complete Site Plan and Plan of Subdivision design calculations, grading design, and servicing design utilizing AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D

Check and verify design drawings to ensure conformance with engineering design specifications

Prepare earthworks calculations and quantity takeoffs

Help establish and maintain AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D standards within the engineering department

Provide oversight of other AutoCAD operators and act as a mentor as needed
-
Lead the continuous training of other AutoCAD drafters
-
Manage the workflow between designers/project managers and other AutoCAD drafters

Other duties as assigned by manager
Candidate Requirements:
-
Graduate of a recognized University or College in a related discipline
-
5 -10 years of experience in a professional engineering environment that has utilized AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D
-
Knowledge of surfaces, grading, earthworks, and pipe networks is considered essential

Exceptional leadership skills and experience in a Project Management role, overseeing others and managing workloads

Familiar with engineering design standards as they relate to land development

Ability to multi-task

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Strong organizational skills

Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

Ability to supervise others and efficiently manage workloads
