
Civil Engineering Intern (EIT)

Van Harten is a company that has grown and evolved from its original land surveying roots in 1968, into a well-respected multi-disciplined professional surveying and consulting engineering firm. Van Harten Surveying has an immediate full-time opportunity for a Civil Engineering Intern (EIT) at our Guelph office. The successful candidate will hold a university degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution and possess a working knowledge of the Ontario Building Code and applicable engineering design criteria. Experience in the construction industry will be considered an asset.
This role is well suited to a results-driven individual with strong time management skills and the ability to effectively manage multiple competing priorities and deadlines.
Job Responsibilities:

Assist with the site grading and site servicing design for residential, commercial, and industrial developments

Assist with the preparation of civil engineering drawing sets and servicing and stormwater management reports

Site visits and inspections
-
AutoCAD design and drafting work

Assist in project management - job tracking, update clients, coordinate fieldwork, etc.

Miscellaneous tasks assigned by a manager
Candidate Requirements:

Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited University

Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D and MS Office based products

Knowledge of stormwater management software and modelling (MIDUSS, VO, mod-rash)

Valid driver’s license and personal vehicle for potential work use

Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment

Strong organizational, problem-solving, time-management, and multi-tasking skills

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Willingness to learn site plan and building permit application processes; as well as land development, municipal engineering, and construction procedures that include site grading, site servicing and stormwater management design
Compensation will range from $55,000 to $75,000 annually, depending on the experience and skill set of the successful candidate.
