Van Harten Surveying has an immediate full-time opportunity for a Civil Engineering Intern (EIT) at our Guelph office. The successful candidate will hold a university degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution and possess a working knowledge of the Ontario Building Code and applicable engineering design criteria. Experience in the construction industry will be considered an asset.

 

This role is well suited to a results-driven individual with strong time management skills and the ability to effectively manage multiple competing priorities and deadlines.

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

• Assist with the site grading and site servicing design for residential, commercial, and industrial developments

• Assist with the preparation of civil engineering drawing sets and servicing and stormwater management reports

• Site visits and inspections

• AutoCAD design and drafting work

• Assist in project management - job tracking, update clients, coordinate fieldwork, etc.

• Miscellaneous tasks assigned by a manager

 

Candidate Requirements:

 

• Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited University

• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D and MS Office based products

• Knowledge of stormwater management software and modelling (MIDUSS, VO, mod-rash)

• Valid driver’s license and personal vehicle for potential work use

• Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment

• Strong organizational, problem-solving, time-management, and multi-tasking skills

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Willingness to learn site plan and building permit application processes; as well as land development, municipal engineering, and construction procedures that include site grading, site servicing and stormwater management design

 

Compensation will range from $55,000 to $75,000 annually, depending on the experience and skill set of the successful candidate.
