Surveyors were trespassing in my back yard digging around my fence. Should I call the police?
When surveyors are working on a property survey, they have the "right of entry" onto any property necessary to properly do the work. Surveyors remain liable however for any damages done to the property. It is a common courtesy for crews to knock on doors prior to entering a neighboring property, but there are times when this is not practical as it would add significant costs to the survey (i.e., it may take 15 minutes for a crew to go around the block to knock on your front door, but they only need to be in your back yard for 1 minute).
