FAQs

Should I get a survey before I build a fence?  Should it be built on the line or entirely on my property?
We always recommend that the legal survey iron bars get reset before a fence is constructed to ensure the proper location of the fence.  Before a fence is constructed we recommend that the homeowner should contact:

  1. The City in order to determine the zoning restrictions for building a fence within your neighbourhood.  The height and minimum distance from the front property corners can be obtained from the City Zoning Department or found on the web sites for most Municipalities.

  2. The home owners on adjoining lots should also be made aware that you are constructing a fence, so that at this point you can talk about locating the proposed fenceon the property line or within your own property boundaries.
